Deadly Family Feud: Man Arrested for Brother’s Death

A tragic altercation between two brothers in Bauchi has ended in the death of one, with the other now in police custody. Isyaku Babale, a 30-year-old resident of Anguwan Dawaki, Bauchi, stands accused of fatally stabbing his elder brother following a heated argument.

The Bauchi State Police Command, led by Commissioner CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has confirmed the arrest of Isyaku Babale after his brother succumbed to his injuries at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).

According to police spokesman SP Ahmed Wakil, the incident unfolded in the early hours of March 31, 2024, when a dispute erupted between the siblings. The disagreement reportedly arose when Isyaku Babale requested his elder brother to cease the use of Cold Patch liquid, commonly known as ‘Sholi,’ due to its unpleasant odor permeating their shared living space.

Tempers flared, leading to a physical altercation between the brothers. Despite initial attempts at mediation, the situation escalated, culminating in Isyaku allegedly wielding a knife and fatally stabbing his brother in the abdomen.

Preliminary investigations by the police have uncovered a history of violence between the siblings, with previous altercations involving dangerous weapons.

Commissioner CP Auwal Musa Mohammed has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are seeking to determine whether there were underlying motives behind Isyaku Babale’s actions. Pending the outcome of the investigation, Babale will likely face charges in court for his alleged involvement in his brother’s death.
