In a commendable display of vigilance, the Lagos State Police Command thwarted an attempted robbery in the wee hours of the morning, apprehending a suspect who brazenly targeted a police officer.

The swift action was detailed in a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, on March 31, 2024.

According to the statement, members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were patrolling incognito on a motorcycle when they encountered the suspect, Akinjobi Wahab, aged 19, wielding a machete.

The arrest unfolded at approximately 4 am along Acme Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, where Wahab and four accomplices, who managed to flee the scene, attempted to seize the officers’ motorcycle.

This successful intervention underscores the effectiveness of the proactive measures implemented by the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.

In response to community concerns regarding early morning criminal activities in the Agidingbi area, Commander Egbeyemi initiated regular foot and vehicular patrols, ensuring swift responses to potential threats.

As investigations proceed, the arrested suspect, Wahab, will face legal proceedings, underscoring the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to maintain peace and security in the region.
