US President Joe Biden and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have expressed their gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for his pivotal role in securing the release of two American citizens.

Guterres, through his spokesperson Mr. Stephane Dujarric, reiterated the urgency of the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, while stressing the necessity of unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza, compliance with international humanitarian laws, and the protection of innocent civilians.

He emphasized the shared responsibility of the international community in preventing any further regional instability.

Concurrently, President Biden, in a separate statement, conveyed his thanks to the governments of Qatar and Israel for their collaborative efforts in achieving the liberation of the American hostages.

He underscored the utmost importance of reuniting these individuals with their families, who have endured a harrowing 14-day ordeal. Biden reaffirmed the unwavering support of the U.S. government for these individuals and their families as they embark on the path to recovery, while urging respect for their privacy during this pivotal moment.

The President also emphasized the ongoing dedication to securing the release of any other American citizens held by Hamas.”
