The former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has expressed optimism that he will emerge as PDP flag bearer in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election in Enugu State.
Senator Ike Ekweremadu made the expression when the PDP leaders, community stakeholders, and PDP delegates from Obeagu, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu state paid him a courtesy visit at his Enugu residency.
Ekweremadu tasked the people of Obeagu, especially the delegates who are supporting his governorship ambition to ensure that they did their part and ensure that they cast their votes for Ekweremadu. “Once you have done your part, forget the rest for us” Ekweremadu added.
“You don’t have to tell me what your community wants because I am familiar with your aspiration, and I am sure that you have always wanted to ensure one of your sons becomes Local Government Chairman of Agwu LGA and I will ensure it happens, ” Ekweremadu said.
Ekweremadu informed the Obeagu people that ‘Maybe God wanted their desire to happen at his own time as Governor of Enugu State, and be assured it will happen under my watch”.
“We want to make sure that we provide work for anyone ready to work in Enugu state, and we have already started talking with our partners both locally and internationally”
“We promise that our administration will establish two industries in each of the seventeen LGAs in Enugu state and we can do it. We are not talking about fiction, but we are telling how we can achieve that”
The problem with Nigeria is the process of recruiting our leaders. If we give power to a worse person among us; what you expect is a worse government because you can’t offer what you don’t have.
However, we must change the narrative and create a new path, to a new Enugu state.
Earlier, the community leaders and PDP delegates from Obeagu Ward in Awgu local government disassociated themselves from any other person interested in becoming the governor of Enugu state in 2023.
The PDP Auditor in Awgu Local Government Area, Tochukwu Chukwu as well as Chief Frederick Ikemefuna and others informed Ekweremadu that the entire people of Obeagu ward have every reason to support his gubernatorial ambition.
They commended Ekweremadu for being the man behind the Development of Obeagu, Awgu LGA as well as attractions of federal roads that changed and ended the age-long-suffering of their people due to bad roads and difficult terrain.
Also, Prince A.C Mba recalled that through the help of Ekweremadu he was made a member of a federal Board and at least three Obeagu people got jobs through his membership on the board.
