Following the clash of the youths and soldiers at Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo state, soldiers were accused of setting some houses, including the palace of a traditional ruler ablaze.
The palace of the traditional ruler of Etekwuru autonomous community in the Local Government Area, the Eze Kenneth Okereke, was last night, October 21st 2021 set razed.
The traditional ruler and his wife are seeking refuge at the Divisional Police headquarters at Mmahu at the point of this report.
The monarch who spoke to newsman in tears this morning, said that he and his Ugoeze were rescued and taken to the police station in boxers.
The monarch noted that He said his palace were destroyed. His Jeep was not spared either.
In his words “the arson came just 24 hours after soliders and youths clashed in the community which led to the killing of an army officer and burning of houses”.
“They came in the area in a reprisal attack”.
However, the security agencies, both the police or the army are yet to make official statement on the incident.
