Former Africa Footballer of Year and Olympic gold medalist, Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed that the 1994 FIFA World Cup in United States of America was a big experience for him despite the loss to the Italians. Amuneke’s brace against Zambia in the final of 1994 AFCON in Tunisia, helped the Super Eagles emerged victorious in the tournament.

Speaking to DREAM SPORTS CENTRE, the ex international hinted that the US 94 World Cup was an eye opener and a big challenge for the squad. As a child watching the Argentinean icon, Diego Maradona at Mexico ’86 was a sight to behold, he was also privileged to watch the Germans lift the Italia 1990 edition and was in the Super Eagles squad in 1994.

Reacting to the loss against the former European champions in the round of 16 of the Mundial, the Ariggo Saachi led side who were a dominant force in world and European football have participated in several editions, had enough quality players and know how to manage or control any advantage that they had.

Recall that Amuneke guided the Golden Eaglets to her 5th World Cup triumph in 2015, appointed Tanzania national team coach 2018 and also qualified the country for 2019 AFCON in Egypt
