Chairman, Radio, Television, Theater and Arts Workers Union, Enugu State council, Comrade Ndudi Chude has called on the federal government of Nigeria to urgently consider media workers who are also essential risk bearers during this period of covid-19 pandemic ravaging the universe
Comrade Ndudi Chude made this known earlier today while evaluating the level of risk journalists are exposed to as a result of work in the midst of corona virus pandemic.
Comrade Ndudi said the nature of their work has made them as vulnerable as health workers and therefore deserve the same treatment.
Ndudi adeed that like health workers, journalists also and broadcasters are always on the move covering news about the deadly pandemic which made them constantly exposed to contracting the disease even very easily than all other categories of workers.
The RATAWU chairman requested for Hazard allowance, insurance cover for media workers as well as provision of Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) and face mask.
He added that media workers are always at risk in discharging their duties and issue of corona virus pandemic is just one of them and the most dangerous of all.
