In a deeply distressing incident that unfolded late on Friday night, an unidentified group of assailants targeted the second Evangelical Church Winning All in Damakasuwa, situated in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Tragically, Pastor Amako Maraya lost his life in a brutal attack, while his wife was abducted by the assailants.
The shockwaves from this horrifying event continue to reverberate through the community. Mr. Ishaku Chinge, a resident and elder in the church, provided a harrowing account of the incident. Under the cover of darkness, the assailants, whose numbers remain unknown, invaded the quiet community at approximately 11 p.m., leaving a trail of fear and anxiety among the residents.
This heartbreaking incident follows a previous attempt by the gunmen to kidnap the pastor’s son just three months ago. In a display of unity, the community successfully repelled the assailants during the earlier attempt, though the pastor’s son sustained injuries in the process.
In a cruel twist of fate, the gunmen returned to the pastor’s residence, this time fatally attacking him and abducting his wife. Mr. Chinge disclosed that the criminals contacted the family in the morning, demanding a ransom of N3 million. Regrettably, there have been no further communications from the assailants as of now.
The community is now gripped with tension, urgently appealing to security agencies and the government to intervene and secure the release of the abducted wife. The widow, traumatized by the horrific events, is in desperate need of rescue and support.
Despite repeated attempts to seek comments from the acting Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, there has been no response at the time of filing this report. The community remains on edge, anxiously awaiting swift action from authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the abducted woman.
