Bayelsa Police Nab 2baba’s Aide Linked to Rivers DPO Killing

Onyekachi Ikowa, a 43-year-old male and second-in-command to TuBaba

In a significant stride toward justice, Bayelsa State Police operatives have successfully captured the alleged mastermind behind the killing of Late SP Bako Angbashim, the former Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Division in Rivers State. The suspect, identified as Onyekachi Ikowa, a 43-year-old male and second-in-command to TuBaba, the notorious leader of the Icelander cult group in Rivers State, was arrested on November 18, 2023.

The arrest follows intensive intelligence work that pinpointed Ikowa’s presence in Yenagoa, where he had reportedly sought refuge after his involvement in the callous murder of SP Bako Angbashim in September 2023, according to a statement released by Bayelsa State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Asinim Butswat.

Commissioner of Police for the Bayelsa State Command, CP Francis Iduh, lauded the efforts of the police operatives involved in the operation and urged them to intensify their efforts in identifying and capturing any additional accomplices hiding within the state. CP Iduh emphatically declared that Bayelsa, under his watch, would not serve as a sanctuary for criminals, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining the safety and security of the residents.

The apprehended suspect, Onyekachi Ikowa, has been swiftly transferred to the Rivers State Police Command for further investigation, signaling a collaborative effort between the two states to dismantle the criminal network involved in the murder of SP Bako Angbashim. This arrest is not only a significant step towards justice but also underscores the authorities’ unwavering dedication to holding those involved in criminal activities accountable for their actions.
