Afreximbank has affirmed its commitment to bolstering the development initiatives of Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu State by providing financial backing for crucial projects aimed at fostering growth and attracting investments in the region.
Expressing its keen interest in Enugu State, Afreximbank praised Governor Mbah’s visionary leadership and the impactful work being carried out in the state. President of Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah, conveyed these sentiments during a recent visit to the Government House in Enugu. He lauded Governor Mbah’s bold and decisive actions, stating, “whenever we see a leader take such solid and courageous steps, we fall in line because it makes our work much easier.”
Oramah disclosed that discussions had been underway on how Afreximbank could support the Enugu State Government and its people. He highlighted specific areas of interest, including the development of a hotel and conference center, the construction of a new airport terminal with a focus on cargo, and the establishment of an agro-processing zone.
The bank also expressed interest in collaborating on the development of solid minerals in Enugu State and emphasized the importance of infrastructure projects such as roads connecting Enugu to Cameroon. Oramah assured Governor Mbah of Afreximbank’s unwavering support, emphasizing that Nigeria’s success translates to Africa’s success.
In response, Governor Peter Mbah expressed gratitude to President Oramah and the Afreximbank team for prioritizing Enugu State in their plans. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to growing the state’s economy substantially and outlined steps taken to reduce investment risks and improve the ease of doing business.
Mbah emphasized the goal of making Enugu State a premier investment destination and expressed optimism about the partnership with Afreximbank. He stated, “I have no doubt in my mind that our partnership will become a model,” underlining the potential for collaboration to drive the state’s economic growth and contribute to the prosperity of Nigeria and Africa at large.
