Enugu Governor Visits Tinubu, Pledges Support

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State extended his Christmas greetings to President Bola Tinubu during a visit to Tinubu’s Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The governor reiterated his strong support for the economic policies of the Federal Government. Emphasizing his commitment to Enugu State’s development, Governor Mbah assured that his administration would meet the ambitious target of over N300bn in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) set in the recently signed 2024 Appropriation Law.

After the meeting, Governor Mbah expressed the significance of discussing the impact of Federal Government policies on Enugu State, particularly in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). He highlighted the positive effects of foreign exchange unification and the removal of fuel subsidies, which he believes have led to increased FDI in the state.

Addressing the state’s ambitious N521.5bn 2024 budget, Governor Mbah emphasized Enugu’s historical role in Nigeria’s economic development. He outlined the administration’s strategy to restore the state to a preeminent position by harnessing local resources and boosting domestic revenue. Despite the ambitious revenue projections, Governor Mbah expressed confidence in realizing the set targets.

Governor Mbah underscored his administration’s dedication to expanding infrastructure, improving service delivery, and implementing digital platforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He highlighted achievements such as providing water to urban homes within the promised 180 days and ongoing projects, including the construction of 260 Smart Schools and Primary Healthcare Centers Type-2 across all wards. Additionally, the governor affirmed the ongoing transition of manual processes to digital platforms to enhance efficiency in public service delivery.
