OJ Simpson, the former American football star  has passed away at the age of 76, according to his family’s announcement.

Orenthal James Simpson gained prominence initially as a standout college football player before transitioning to a successful career in the NFL.

His life took a dramatic turn in 1994 when he became the primary suspect in the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, a trial that captivated the nation.

Despite compelling evidence presented by prosecutors, including blood, hair, and fiber analysis linking Simpson to the crime scene, his defense team argued he was framed by racially motivated law enforcement.

The trial’s most iconic moment came when Simpson struggled to fit into a pair of blood-stained gloves found at the murder scene, leading to his attorney’s famous phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”

However, his life continued to be marred by legal troubles, including a 2008 conviction for armed robbery, which resulted in a 33-year prison sentence. He was released in 2017.

Simpson’s family announced his passing due to cancer, noting that he was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments.
