Covid19: Contact Tracing in Abakpa Nike Got Two Buildings Quarantined

The suspected covid19 patients who were forcefully taken away by combined team of Enugu state ministry of health and security agencies at No 56, Nike Rd, Abakpa Nike, opposite Texaco filling station hail from Northern Part of Nigeria.

News Center Nigeria gathered that a woman and a tenant at No 56, Nike Road who had recently returned to Enugu from Kano was exhibiting symptoms of Coronavirus which led to notification of the authorities and subsequent evacuation of the suspect along side others who she may had had contact with.

It was revealed that the lady following complications went to a health facility in Enugu from where she was referred to Parklane Teaching Hospital.

According to an official of NCDC who was among those mounting guard at the building, they received information that an individual with symptoms of Covid-19 was hiding in the building and two persons have been taken to isolation center for further investigation while the building had been cordoned off.

The official added that there is an instruction to ensure that no one moves out and inside the affected buildings pending the testing of all residents to know their status.

Meanwhile, the house as well as two more buildings beside it were said to be occupied by northerners. Another eye witness claimed that the woman is one of wealthy people in the terrain and on her arrival from Kano State, she played host to her neighbors and relations living in the next compound.

It could be recalled that this is happening in less than 24hours after Enugu state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ikechukwu Obi announced a new confirmed case of covid19 in the state.
