Do2dtun blames Mohbad’s sympathizers Over police teargas

In the aftermath of the tear gas incident at the Lekki tollgate involving individuals showing support for Mohbad and the anti-riot Police Squad, Nigerian on-air personality, video jockey, and actor, Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, known as Do2dtun, has expressed his views, placing some blame on the victims.

To provide context, a gathering of fans paying tribute to the late rapper Mohbad, also known as Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, reportedly faced tear gas dispersal by the police during a candlelight procession held at the Lekki tollgate. Regrettably, some attendees suffered injuries.

Do2dtun took to his social media platform to share his perspective, questioning the decision of those who gathered at the Lekki tollgate after the procession had officially concluded at the approved venue, Muri Okunola Park, around 8 pm.

In his words, he expressed, “Nigerians often fail to heed to honest advice. We tend to take things to the extreme. The candlelight procession had already concluded at Muri Okunola Park more than three hours ago, and everyone had dispersed. Yet, some chose to congregate at the Lekki toll gate. Let’s be clear, it wasn’t a protest; it was a candlelight procession.”

Nevertheless, Do2dtun did not shy away from criticizing the police’s use of tear gas on mourners, stating, “While it’s not justifiable for the police to resort to such measures, it’s important to recognize that sometimes people hijack these events and transform them into something else. Muri Okunola Park had been approved for a peaceful candlelight procession. It’s simply a matter of common sense. Those who went home, did they lack intelligence? Let’s apply a bit of reasoning. We are in Lagos, after all.”
