It was a breathless game between Oji-River Local Government team and Igboeze South squad at Sansiro stadium, Onoli, Awgu on Saturday despite having a scoreline of 0-3 at the end of the play.

It could be recalled that the first encounter between the two teams, three weeks ago, in the on-going S-E-S-N-M football tournament ended in 1-1 draw.

Fans blamed the defeat of Igboeze South Local Government on fatigue.

The match which would have kicked-off at 2pm started at 4.36pm due to late arrival of the Igboeze South boys.

As the centre referee, Donatus Chukwu, blew his whistle signalling the commencement of the match, the Igboeze South players entered the football pitch immediately, jumping down from their Bus to face their opponents who came at 1pm in readiness for the game.

It was barely few minutes of play when the centre referee spotted an infringement in 18 yard box of Igboeze South Local Government side.

To the dismay of many fans, a penalty was awarded to Oji-River Local Government even as many contended that the offensive tackle by the Igboeze South boys was not hard enough to earn such ruling. Although it was a last man standing amidst foul.

Trust the Oji-River boys, they did not waste time to convert the spot kick as their striker, dangerman-Oleh Bethel kylian Mbape-gave them the first goal of the game at two minutes of play.

Seven minutes after, the Igboeze South Local Government goalkeeper committed a blunder as he could not catch a feeble ground shot from the flank by Oleh Bethel Kylian Mbabe, giving Oji-River a second goal.

It was when the Igboeze South team conceded the second goal that they woke up, contesting every ball both in air and on the ground.

Both sides exhibited good football skills with proper coordination. The players of both sides played out their hearts, showing they were in serious business.

The first half ended in 0-2 in favour of Oji-River.

The second half of the game saw renewed vigour in the players as there were attacks and counter attacks on both sides.

It was Oji-River boys that found their way into the net of their opponents through Maduebube Victor assisted by Dybala Benjamin Chidera at 93rd minute of the game.

The Enugu ADC governorship standard bearer, Pastor Donatus Obi Ozoemena is the sponsor of the S-E-S-N-M football tournament.

Speaking to newsmen after the game, a football fan who gave his name as Obinna Onah described the sponsor of the tournament as a good leader, urging other philanthropists to emulate him.

He prayed for the success of the ADC Gubernatorial Candidate; Pastor Ozoemena in the next governorship poll, saying that he has the capacity to rule Enugu State.
