In a demonstration of unwavering commitment to community welfare, former governor and philanthropist Peter Obi visited the remote community of Obinofia Ndiagu in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, where he donated a substantial sum of N10 million to equip the Dominic Health Centre.

The donation, aimed at bolstering healthcare infrastructure in the region, was made public through Mr. Obi’s social media account, where he shared details of the visit and the purpose behind his generous contribution. The Dominic Health Centre, a primary health facility in the area, had been brought to Mr. Obi’s attention by the Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev Callistus Onaga, who highlighted the urgent need for its development.

Two years ago, Bishop Onaga had informed Mr. Obi about the dire need for a primary health center in Obinofia Ndiagu, as the community lacked access to essential healthcare services. Responding to the call, Mr. Obi generously contributed to the construction of the health center, aiming to address the healthcare gap in the area.

Upon receiving news that the construction had been completed but the facility lacked essential equipment, Mr. Obi decided to revisit the community and provide further support by donating N10 million to equip the primary health center. The philanthropist acknowledged the significance of the healthcare facility, particularly in a community where access to healthcare was previously nonexistent.

Mr. Obi, in a series of tweets, emphasized the importance of investing in critical areas of national development, including health and education, to uplift the less privileged and contribute to the overall betterment of society. Despite the challenges faced during the journey to the remote community, Mr. Obi expressed satisfaction in making a positive impact on the lives of the people in Obinofia Ndiagu.

In conclusion, Mr. Peter Obi called on fellow citizens to join hands in contributing to the nation’s development by focusing on essential areas such as healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation. His commitment to creating a happier and greater Nigeria was encapsulated in his closing statement: “A happier greater Nigeria is POssible. -PO.”
