Tribunal Confirms Ododo as Kogi Governor, Rejects Ajaka’s Challenge

In a landmark ruling, the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal affirmed Usman Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

The tribunal upheld the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, dismissing the petition filed by Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, the tribunal concluded that the SDP and its candidate failed to substantiate their claims against the respondents.

Birnin-Kudu emphasized that the election adhered to the Electoral Act’s provisions. Usman Ododo, who secured 446,237 votes, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the November 11, 2023, governorship election.
