Consequent upon kidnapping cases recorded in some parts of the State despite the challenges facing by the Country in fight against COVID-19 and the need to nib crime in the bud, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Usman gave a marching order to the operatives of the Command to embark on aggressive manhunt of bandits/kidnappers in the State. This order led to some successes recorded as thus;
Also on 25/04/2020 at about 0130hrs, information received that a seven man gang of suspected bandits/kidnappers from Goyi village Gwagwalada FCT invaded Tufa village via Gawu Babangida, Gurara LGA, a Joint Police/Vigilante team led by DPO Gawu Babangida, mobilized to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle, during which three of the hoodlums, namely; Abdulqadir Abubakar ‘m’ aged 20yrs, Nuhu Shuaibu ‘m’ 22yrs of Goyi village Gwagwalada FCT and Musa Maisaje ‘m’ 20yrs of Dobi Kaida FCT were arrested with gunshot wounds while one AK 47 rifle with erased breach number, one empty magazine, one pump action and Army camouflage uniform were recovered from them, the suspects were taken to Umar Musa memorial hospital Sabon Wuse for medical attention but were later confirmed dead by the doctor as a result of the gunshots injuries sustained during the gun battle, the corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue. Effort to arrest the fleeing members of the syndicate is in progress, case under investigation.
CULPABLE HOMICIDE/ARREST OF SUSPECT; On 24/04/2020 at about 0800hrs, information revealed that on 23/04/2020 at about 2300hrs, one Fatima Sani ‘f’ 36yrs of Gobirawa village, who had a misunderstanding with her mother in-law one Aisha Umaru aged 70yrs ‘f’ of Tozon Daji village, Mashegu LGA. The said Fatima who had been divorced, left Gobirawa village to Tozon Daji, and secretly entered the mother in-law’s room where she stabbed her to death for allegedly instigating her son, Sani Umaru to divorce her. The suspect was arrested, case under investigation.
