The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, on Thursday, stated that they are still investigating the alleged killing of four persons as a result of skirmishes at Odekpe town and Alla community in Anambra West Local Government Area of the state following a land dispute.

According to the state command’s PRO, ASC Edwin Okadigbo, investigations into the matter showed that contrary to the earlier report that four persons were killed and one person kidnapped, the command was still investigating the truth about the matter.

It would be recalled that the command, Wednesday, claimed four persons were killed in a land dispute between Odekpe town and Alla community in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to the release, “On 20/04/2020, NSCDC, Anambra West Divisional office, was alerted of a bloody clash between Odekpe town and Alla community in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State over a lingering boundary dispute between the communities.

Preliminary investigations alleged that Odekpe community on 20/04/2020, at about 15:00hrs, clashed with Alla people beside the river which they were claiming ownership of. Despite efforts geared towards the settlement of the dispute by the state government, security agencies and the president general, the youths of Odekpe purportedly attacked the people of Alla on the said date, and in the process four persons allegedly lost their lives; one other person kidnapped while most houses in Alla community were burnt by the said Odekpe youths.”

With the new development, the command informs the public to disregard the earlier report of the killings until its investigations were concluded.
