Nigeria number one chess player, Daniel Anwuli, has expressed his frustrations on the postponement of chess tournament due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Anwuli, who won the National Chess Championship last month, said he had been financially affected by the pandemic.
According to Anwuli, cash inflow has reduced drastically and this affects training and purchase or training materials. Also, he had multiple events to compete in which includes the National Sports Festival, African Chess competition in Togo and Germany, but they’ve all been put on hold for now.
Anwuli, currently ranked 47th in Africa, added that he had gathered some rating points which he gained last month, and hopefully by the end of this month, he should be in the top 40.
