Enugu: Udi LG Chairman sends delegation to the 68yrs old Woman Raped by Fulani Men in Hospital

The Chairman, Udi Local Government Council Hon. Pascal Ifeanyi Agu has sent delegation led by his SPA on Security matters Engr. Theo Enyi to visit the 68 years old woman raped by a suspected Fulani man in the council at the health facilities where she is taking treatment.

The 68years woman (name withheld) while narrating her ordeal said she was returning from the farm in the company of another woman when two Fulani men confronted them and started making advances. The other woman with her is younger and was able to flee from the scene; then one of the Fulani boys pinned her down and raped her.

However, the woman who ran away later came back with some villagers who pursued the culprits and succeeded in getting only one of them and handed him over to the police.

She busted into tears while explaining how she was bleeding profusely at that time. But through the help of the villagers, she was rushed to the hospital. When asked if the arrested Fulani man was the one that raped her, she sobbed and nodded in affirmative.

Meanwhile, the Local Government boss who spoke through his representative sympathized with the victim and members of her family.

He informed them that Udi Local government authority has directed the police to do a thorough investigation and ensure that the culprit(s) are brought to book and the LG boss vow to take steps which will ensure that such ugly incident does not repeat again.

He assured them that the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi led administration is taking the security of lives and properties of those living in Enugu state seriously. The chairman made an undisclosed cash donation to the victim for her upkeep and promised to take care of her hospital bills when she is discharged.

The delegation from Udi Local Government Chairman paid a visit to the crime scene and office of the DPO, 9th mile Division in company of SA to the Governor, Prince Emma Efoke.
