Following the recent rainstorm that blew off the roof of the building housing the National Youth Service Corps Secretariat, the public relations unit, Birth and Death Registry, National Identity Management Office, and the drugs storage unit in the secretariat of Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State, the council chairman, Hon. Emeka Onunze, has ordered the immediate repairs of the affected building.
Recall that the rainstorm, which occurred on the Tuesday night of 31st of March, 2020, aside destroying the roof of the said building, alsodamaged vital documents in the affected offices.
Onunze, while on inspection of the affected places, regretted that the incident happened when his administration was battling to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the area through the implementation of various proactive measures adopted by both Enugu state and federal governments.

According to him, “It’s a very sad development at a time we are battling with the dreaded coronavirus. In any case, as a proactive administration, the repairs will commence in immediately. This is to preserve documents and infrastructure in the affected offices. These documents are very essential.”
Our correspondent reports that Hon. Onunze was accompanied during the inspection by members of the top management of the council. The town engineer of the council, Engr. Uzoego Kinsley, in an interview recently, said work was already in progress in the building and would be completed soon.
Recall that the rainstorm removed house roofs, trees, and pulled down electric cables in some parts of the Enugu metropolis and its environs, causing power outage in the affected areas for some days.
